It's all about being catchy

The following blog is about simplistic but eye-catching and well-designed logos. It makes so much sense after looking at quite a few that it's not about being fancy, or overly designed, it's about identifying and peaking interest within seconds of viewing. The correlation of the product or service, to the branding needs to be directly relating to one another. This will quickly identify who is/are it/they? and why you want/ need them! The thought and creativity put into making these clever logos show that it's possible to think of something catchy! Note: If it doesn't flow, it shouldn't go (lol. I came up with that myself.. hey it made me smile:)) I have found it helpful to explore words that have to do with what is being sold, what is the name of the company, and what is the target market. These are all things that have a positive correlation for  possible branding opportunities. To further break that down, I like to look at colors, shapes, words and unique key points. At this point, it is a start, making it easier to get those creative juices flowing! If you get stuck... you can always look examples posted here :). They will be inspirational! My favorites are Knoll, Horror Movie, Loop, Pencil and of course Nosey. Please, enjoy them for yourselves now.

For the love

WHAT IS IT??
This blog post is extremely motivational to me. It shows all forms of dedication, appreciation and the love for art. The artist that patiently spends his time designing and working on his installations is Motoi Yamamoto.  The Japanese artist is admired for his many beautiful works of art such as his sculptures, paintings, drawings but his most statement making installations are his salt mazes.

THE CONCEPT
The concept behind the design of the salt mazes is based on a personal lose of his close sister who passed away at the age of 24 from brain cancer. Many of his designs are based upon the feeling and reflection of what Yamamoto had lost. The forms of most of the works represents labyrinths and intricate patterns. A labyrinth in "layman's terms" is a complex pathway or system of tunnels that is easy to lose direction. These patterns are often ruined and abandoned. The entire installation is made completely and solely of salt.  This is the artist way of holding a memory precious to him that is not attainable through pictures or writings. He finds a way to keep a cherishing moment, although memories change and disappear he can appreciate this sentimental moment forever.

WHY SALT?
The reasoning Motoi related salt to the relevance of his installations was based on the death culture of Japan. It is considered "indispensable" in his culture and after the death of his sister he needed a way to accept the realities of death. He achieved this by examining the realism of death and how it is dealt with among the living. He started researching about themes related to the death such as brain death and from this he chose his materials that corresponded. This was how salt came to be his medium for these installations. One of the death customs in Japan is that salt is used in funerals. Motoi now believes that salt holds the memory of life and ever since he starting working with salt has had a special attachment to this medium.
THE IDEA?
For Motoi  drawing a labyrinth with salt creates the idea the following a trace of his memory. And as stated before memories seem to change and become more and more vague as time goes on. This is a way for him to express and feel a precious moment in his life that he otherwise would not attain. The direction he takes is unpredictable to him and he will not be sure if he reached his main point until the end because according to him, "lines are curved or cut through my intentions."

Why I love it!
This dedicated loving brother found a passion and a way solidify the memories of his sister. He appreciates her life now rather than mourn her death. For one of his installations, he spent over 50 hours working with 2,2000 pounds of salt, with immaculate precision, heart, and a loving dedication to the value of the project, Motoi created beautiful displays for people to enjoy. He gave viewers a  topic to appreciate, understand, and possibly relate to.

Ohh yaa.. Pink is better than Mink :)

This could possibly be the happiest trend I have been apart of since I began my love for interior design! Pink, Pink, Pink... I am all over you. So a BIG color trend for 2011 is the color pink. This is so exciting I'm SMILING (teeth showing). The question is, are people going to be dedicated to the color pink? I already know I am.  The applications are endless! The feelings created are warm and happy!! Let's take a look, shall we?

OK here is one amazing application.. lighting. This is a really great feature found in this living room. This is a bold decision but a great one if this is your style. The light slowly changes color throughout the time it is on. The different lighting through the white drapery creates an excitement and anticipation of a change in mood. The fuchsia color gives off a flirty, uber-modern affect in juxtaposition to the furniture in the space.

Comfortable Home Design
Femininity is the goal in this design. I must start this out by saying... NOTICE: Philippe Starck Ghost Chair, what a beauty! The pink walls show that dedication to the color that I was wondering about. Even more, the accents of pink accessories makes this a room perfect for that feminine, sophisticated woman.

Here, again, showing that sophistication with a pop of magenta and the contrast it creates up again black and white. The tufting of the stools and the headboard brings somewhat of a softness to the bold color.

I have to appreciate this room. When I was a little girl I would have loved having this modern glamorous Barbie room. The different shades of pink correlate well with one another. It is soft, bright, fun, and playful and for every girl that loves Barbie would LOVE this pink dream room.

The previous three images are of the Gansevoort Hotel located in New York. Located in an upscale part of a major city, with high-end clientele, the design had to correspond with the luxury and trendiness of the city atmosphere. Through small accents, that make loud statements the incorporation of the honeysuckle color is displayed in a fashionable, modern way with the feeling of high-end modern design.

Accessorize! First off, I love the fierceness of pairing red and fuchsia accents together. This creates a bold and energized statement especially with the contrast of black and white. What a great way to incorporate pink in a minimal way but shouting "I love being a single woman!" YAY for being bold!

OH kitchen how I enjoy your look! I have stumbled across this kitchen a few times and I just love it more and more. With the softness of the light pink gloss cabinets and the modern style with no pulls and the sleekness of the rest of the kitchen this pink just sets it off for me. Plus I love baby pink.. so girly!

I have to admit I could not be happier seeing these pink designs as if they were in my own home! They are just so fabulous with a bold statement attached to them. This definitely makes me love femininity, fierceness, and flirtatiousness just that much more. Kudos to those dedicated to the new trend.. Be bold!!
