Karim Rashid is one of my most favorite designers. He brings such versatility to design industry. If you ever just want to be "WOWED", look up his projects and products. All his spaces are completely different and almost makes you wonder, how could anyone even come up with an idea like that? Taking the advice of Professor Adkins, I decided I would start researching things that I had not initially took an interest in learning much about. I started digging deep into future technology and how the world is significantly changing. To my surprise, I love reading about the modern marvels. Its shows how far we have come as a society and how much further we have to look forward to. The feeling I get when I see work by Karim Rashid, is a sense that he incorporates the future. He takes it one step further, that other people would rather just stay safe. He achieves great accomplishment for this. He produces stunning, wow-factor spaces, that will be remembered vibrantly by the people who experience them. For example the second picture down is a pharmacy in Serbia. He has created an amazing space out of a thought-to-be typically a bit more dull space. He is definitely a design who follows the beat to his own drum. He inspires me!! Even more so, he is the reason for everyday ordinary objects having design and style such as trash cans, pens, water bottles and vacuums as in the first image.
Things do not always have to stay the same. For example, we are so used to the traditional keyboard that when we think about it, most people probably could not image it any different besides enhancing it. I tried to upload a video, however, couldn't. So when you have some time go to youtube and look up 8pen. They have come up with a new design for a quicker and more practical typing (so to speak) for our more common electronic devices, our cellphones. The change in size has created a need for a change in ergonomics and design. I am excited to hear what everyone has to think about this because it STILL blows my mind!
